Bamboo Flooring Colors
The popularity of bamboo can be traced to the warmth it brings to a room, courtesy of the warm colors which bamboo floors are available in. There are two common colors: Natural and Carbonized.
Natural Bamboo Flooring
Once stripped of the green outer "skin," the color of bamboo that is seen is that of a light natural blond shade, with certain natural gradations. This color remains fairly unchanged in the process of manufacturing bamboo floors. The resulting shade is what's called natural bamboo flooring.
Carbonized Bamboo Flooring
This is the darker shade of bamboo available. It has a rich amber to dark brown color that mimics the look of stained hardwoods. However, carbonized bamboo isn't stained at all. The color is the cause of a longer boiling process, which turns it into that deep caramel color. Aside from turning the naturally pale-colored bamboo into a darker shade, it also softens the bamboo flooring by about 30%. However, even softened, the hardness is still comparable to that of most hardwoods, so it doesn't affect durability that much.
Bamboo Flooring in Other Colors
Recent advances in bamboo flooring have enabled manufacturers to come up with bamboo floor boards that go beyond the classic natural and carbonized colors. Bamboo floor boards now also come stained in every color imaginable - red, blue, yellow, all sorts - which gives you more decorating and coordinating options in your home. Technology truly has done wonders with bamboo flooring.
