Carbonized Bamboo Flooring: Rich Dark Bamboo Floors For Your Enjoyment

Even Bamboo Floors Have a Dark Side
Some homeowners like the look of rich, dark floors and would literally go to any lengths just to get it. Most of the time, the cost stops them in their tracks. Thankfully, there is an arguably much better alternative to dark woods so coveted by homeowners: carbonized bamboo flooring.

What is Carbonized Bamboo Flooring?
Bamboo flooring can be grouped into two major types - natural and carbonized. Natural bamboo possesses a light blond color as well as its shade variations. Carbonized bamboo flooring is natural bamboo's darker cousin, featuring a rich, dark color that is comparable to stained hardwood floors. Contrary to what is commonly thought, carbonized bamboo does not contain any stain. Its dark color is obtained by making the wood undergo a process, which in turn gives the bamboo a nice rich shade.

The very same process that turns bamboo dark also makes it about 30 percent softer, but this poses no problem to the integrity of the carbonized bamboo flooring because even when softer, carbonized bamboo flooring is comparable to maple hardwood in hardness and durability. This is certainly not a soft flooring option, and certainly something that you would definitely want in your home.
