Standard (Maximum) Exposures for all of our Cedar Shakes are as follows:

18" #1 Perfection Cedar Shingles: Standard Exposure 5 1/2"

18" #2 Perfection Cedar Shingles: Standard Exposure 5 1/2". Recommended Exposure is 4"

18" #4 Perfection Cedar Shingles: Standard Exposure N/A. Used for undercoursing or non-habitable buildings.

16" #1 Fivex Cedar Shingles: Standard Exposure 5 "

24" #1 Royal Cedar Shingles:Standard Exposure 7 1/2 "

Calculating Product Quantities at Non-Standard Exposures:

Please Note: Do not exceed standard (maximum) exposures noted above.

Use the formula below to calculate coverages:

Sq ft of coverage required x Standard Exposure ÷ Desired Exposure ÷ 100 = # of squares required.

For example,

If you require 3000 sq ft of coverage, for 18" #1 Perfection Cedar Shingles (5 1/2" exposure) and wish to use a 4" exposure...

3000 sq ft x 5 1/2" ÷ 4" ÷ 100 sq ft/square = 41.25 squares

Please order an additional 5%-10% to provide for waste, starter courses, valleys, and cuts.
