Care & Maintenance

Everyone loves the look of laminate flooring in their home, but it is important to protect the natural beauty and luster
of the flooring. Follow our laminate care and maintenance routine.

How to care for your laminate floor

  • Clean and remove spills as soon as they happen as excess water can damage the surface and seep into
the seams of the flooring. Use a damp cloth to blot the spill, then dry the surface thoroughly.
  • Sweep, dust or vacuum your laminate floors on a regular basis – once or twice a week. Use a broom with
soft bristles and/or a vacuum with the hard floor attachment only. By performing a regular routine, you will
remove tough spots, dirt and grit which may cause scratches or stains.
  • If you have a major event coming up, make sure to clean your laminate before and after using a broom,
    soft cloth or vacuum.
  • Your laminate flooring should be cleaned periodically with a professional laminate floor cleaning product
recommended by a laminate flooring professional.

What not to use on your laminate floor

  • Do not use wet sprays, micro fiber mop or a regular mop mixed with oil-soap detergent, water or any other
cleaning materials to wash your floors. This may cause delamination, swelling or warping and may void the
    warranty.
  • Never use was, polish or scouring agents as they may dull the finish.
  • Do not use a buffing machine of any kind.

Maintaining you laminate floor

  • Remember, preferable temperature should be approximately 17 – 23ºC (62 – 73ºF) with a relative humidity
of 45 – 60%. Humidity should never be allowed to drop below 30% as this may cause gapping.
  • Use rugs and carpet runners in areas with high traffic. Make sure to clean and vacuum rugs thoroughly to
keep dirt from filtering down and scratching the laminate underneath.
  • Keep your pets nails trimmed regularly to avoid scratching.
  • Attach felt pads to the bottom of all furniture or use only soft rubber casters to protect against scrapes and
    scratches.
  • Save a few laminate planks in case of accidental damage. Boards can be replaced or repaired by a
    flooring professional.
