Combination Laminate Floor Underlayment
This type of laminate floor underlayment has features similar to that of a standard foam underlayment, but it has a moisture barrier built in to it that prevents moisture from seeping onto the laminate flooring. It can be installed where high levels of moisture are expected.
Vinyl-backed Laminate Floor Underlayment
This is laminate floor underlayment that comes in an easy-to-install tile form. It lies flat during installation, foregoing the need to roll out and measure sheets as it is with traditional laminate floor underlayment. It also provides some noise-proofing qualities, though you must seal the seams if you want to waterproof it.
Acoustical Laminate Floor Underlayment
This is used to reduce the sound created when walking on a laminate floor. Made from a variety of materials such as cork and felt, it can also come equipped with a moisture barrier.
