Customer Service was very responsive prior to sale. However, 17% of the tiles I received were broken. I have called and emailed the sales rep to get credit and/or replacement tile, but he has not returned the call or email. More color variation than I expected at this price. Packaging was unacceptable. Very timely shipping. However, the packaging was nothing more than heavy paper. The tiles were stacked vertically and banded on a pallet. As a result 17% were broken. Reasonable cardboard packaging and a crate (not a flat pallet) would have prevented most of this damage. I hope you use my feedback as future buyers need to understand the risks and quality of service associated with BuildDirect. In other words, there are many other better options.
BuildDirect Response:BuildDirect read this feedback and published it. The customer was contacted to arrive at a resolution. On customer approval, two boxes worth of material were refunded to offset the inconvenience and cost of broken tiles.

Product arrived quickly, sooner than the quoted 5 business days, minor breakage of tiles. Samples were delivered within 2 business days. Very happy with the finished product. Would deal with BD again. Sometimes a little more fill in tiles than I would like. surprised at some of the tiles that were sent, but over all very pleased.

There were about 6 defective/unusable tiles that should never have made it past any quality control process; a pretty small percentage overall. Very fast and product was packaged in a wooden box with no damage. I was nervous about purchasing tile online but it was a very good experience. The other online companies don't send free samples which was why I went with your company; keep up the good work!

placed order over the phone. Service was great. Easy process. Product was great. Just as advertised. Some color variation, but minimal. Shipping was excellent. They were able to accomodate my shipping window. Put tiles right inside the garage. In general, tiles turned out to be a few shades darker that I expected. The sample that I ordered came exactly the color I was looking for but actual tiles were darker. Pictures on the internet were lighter too, but ordering online is very tricky as each computer monitor produces its own shade variation. It was not a big difference (and most of your customers may not even notice), but for a very high end kitchen project, like mine, every detail counts. Tiles still look great and I'm happy with the purchase.

You moved up our ship date from what we originally requested with absolutely no hassle. our rep was extremely nice, helpful and quick to respond to questions and pricing I was amazed at how little breakage since Travertine is so porous and other suppliers have had bad reviews based on breakage. We are more than half way through the palet and so far only one tile was cracked.Shipping was fast, they called prior and they placed the palettes in our garage which was fantastic help I would absolutely use Build Direct again. The free samples although great were a bit small but when I compared them with larger samples I got elsewhere I was able to make the correct choice. Had less than 5% breakage. My only complaint is when it arrived the driver was unable to unload it near the house because of the flimsy dollie that he was using. He had me push the crate to try to get it up the driveway which was impossible. I would highly recommend your company and would gladly do business with you again.

I called and spoke with my sales rep, who was very helpful in determining how much tile to order. He took my order over the phone and sent me confirmation via email while I was still on the phone with him. The tile is exactly what I expected with no broken pieces at all. The packing was done very well with styrofoam between boxes and all of the boxes in wooden crates. The color is just as it was pictured on the website. The shipping date was given to me when I ordered, and it arrived that day. It only took 4 business days to arrive. The truck driver called ahead of his arrival and had it unloaded into our garage within minutes. I absolutely love my new tile floor! The tile plus shipping was about a third of what I would have paid locally. I am now going to order my tile for our backsplash from BuildDirect. I am so happy with your company!

love the tile so far, and only 3 tiles were cracked in our whole shipment! Love the tracking feature which was very handy on seeing when this order was arriving in Edmonton. Happy with the quick customer service and products so far. Only negative that I have is some of the tile packaging became "glued" to the top tile which left line marks that don't seem to want to come off.

House is presently not ready for product ordered. Product is still sitting in packaging, but delivery and service was very prompt. Expected delivery was way faster than expected. If I would have known delivery was so prompt I may have held off ordering for a few weeks. I had to store product offsite until house was ready. The only product I've been unhappy with is the board lengths on my hardwood. I felt a little deceived. It said random lengths but it should rather say from 12 inches to 34 inches, which is alot shorter than normal. It has always come in decent time I love my travertine floor. Looks great.

The customer service was outstanding with excellent follow up and follow through on so many levels, from the ordering of the samples to ordering the actual product. As expected I had a few broken tile, but with the customer service to ensure I accuratly calculated my waste, I had no problem purchasing the right amount of tile for the job. Again great communication from when it shipped from Texas to the 3rd party used to drop it off at the house using a lift gate to ensure I could get it to the garage. From start to finish I was assited and informed the entire way from order to deliver. The tile quality seemed high, the chiseled edge was an elegant and attractive look and even though I decided to grout the tile, it would have looked outstanding without the grout. The price for the product compounded by the customer service was unbeatable, ordering over 500 sq ft at less than $2.50 per sq ft for the travertine french pattern is unheard of. Now my entry way, kitchen and Bathroom are elegant and once finished added over $25K to the equity of my home. i would recommend this to anyone, from contractor to home owner! I will return as a happy customer.

The tiles had mold and some kind of plant material growing on them. The tilers didn't want to clean them so we did. It was very hard to get them clean. Other than the mold issue, everything else was fine.

Everyone I spoke to at BuildDirect was very helpful and knowlegable. They really minimized my apprehension about buying this major purchase on line. I bought 90 pieces of 18x18 travertine. Only 3 pieces were damaged. Quick and easy for sure, I have looked in lots of tile stores trying to find what I wanted without luck. I saw the builddirect ad, clicked on it, and there was what I had been searching for! Also, the tutorial pages taught me plenty about the particular product I was buying. All my questions answered. Customer service was more than excellent and very prompt. it's due to be installed this coming monday but the 3 boxes I opened look to be in great shape. delivery guy was most helpful but unfortunately he had a delapidated truck and wasn't sure his 3,000 lb lift would lower 1,500 lbs of tile. Also was not equipped to put tile in my garage, due to a 2" lip. Again, he was great, truck had seen it's better days. only had a couple of e-mails back and forth. Short and simple and to the point. Only 1 phone call and that was to order my tile. My experience with you guys was the "easy button" as far as just getting my order placed and having it shipped in such a timely fashion. Thanks!

The tiles were amazing quality - uniform in size, depth and overall color, while still having variety in pattern. I could not find this quality at this price anywhere - it was at least double for retail that wasn't as good. They look amazing installed - that bathroom is now the star of the house. Our tile setters did not have to set one tile aside for anything. We had 3000 square feet of tile delivered and have not had one broken tile! all questions answered promptly and very helpful the floor turned out beautiful arrived very fast and shipped well protected, only 1 cracked tile in 315 sq feet of product, really great I was glad I bought 15% extra for the job, about 10% of the tiles were ones that the color was way off what the remainder of the 90% was, totally different tone that we couldn't get to match no matter what pattern we put it in (and the reason I picked travertine was for the stone variation). Overall, I would still give it 5/5 star experience though and would buy from them again.

Actual tile color ("Oasis Walnut") was significantly darker than samples I received. For my next project, I would have to make some adjustments between sample color and what I would receive. Great shipping - very low %%% of tiles were broken during transportation. Very limited selection of other items - like bullnose or steps.

This particular travertine tile was a bit fragile. Some tiles broke in installers hand when he picked them up. Timeframe of transaction was completed accurately as stated by your rep. He seemed quite knowledgable on the product and shipping (freight) process and was quite helpful. A positive experience, would not hesitate to order again. In fact, waiting for hardwood flooring samples to arrive for a potential hardwood order.

Great feedback by installers passed on and off course finish product looks great! Awesome! Shipping was a little Slow and did not represent actual time of delivery during sales contract. Had to call several times to follow up on ETA. Learned we could have had material delivery sooner at an additional cost. Had 3 days of labor scheduled rescheduled on site. Over 10% pieces broken which needed to be replaced. WOuld recommend them for other projects in the future. Admitedly I do my own research and came upon your web site. No regrets, excellent quality and follow through encountered with staff members. A must resource for all Contractors, and Architectures/Designers.

Looked Beautiful, but it was brittle. we ended up breaking a lot of it (our fault), but a lot of it broke too easily during installation. Still was cost effective in the end tho. I didn't use shipping, but the guys at the warehouse were great. the sales rep was great. Attentive and responsive. Great to work with.

So far I have used about half of the Oasis Beige and could not be happier. The tiles are in good condition and I laid it in a brick pattern. It looks rich! LOVE IT!. This was a positive experience. I have purchased about 140 boxes of the Oasis beige and have laid around 1/2 of them. The quality is great.

I was pleased with your customer service via the phone that supported your website. The site gave me information, but I was able to call and talk to your sales staff with no long waiting or being on hold. He had answers to my questions, offered good advice—all was appreciated. The tiles arrived well packed and protected and seem intact. We are waiting for our installer to put these in place, have only opened a couple of the boxes to inspect and see what they look like. The Navona Light travertine blows away the low-end travertine available at the big box stores. This is comparable to $7-8/sq ft stuff. We used it for a foyer and 1/2 bath floor, with 1/16 grout lines (color: bone). Sealed it twice before grouting and twice after. Very very pleased with product. Would order about 30% more sq ft than you need, both for a little bit of breakage and chippage on ends during shipping, and also so that you can be a little picky about what tiles you use, as a select few had more fill than I cared for. Like the 30-day guarantee and the prompt samples.

Dealing with our sales rep is always a pleasure. He put together multiple quotes, sent us relevent samples and saved us time and money. As always, he was able to work out solutions that were cost efficient and within our time frame. Dealing with the rep is a rare pleasure in the construction process. Installed about 1/4 of the tile so far. Looks great. Only one broken tile (that's only 1 in 76!). shipping was very quick. Truck arrived with gate and unload efficiently. our sales rep helped me with our first purchase a year ago. Then and ever since, he has been extremely efficient and helpful. Even on things that are not his area of experties, he is able to arrange to have someone contact me. Without th rep, I would likely continue to work with BuildDirect. But with him, BuildDirect is always my first call (actually email) and the reason I always recommend BuildDirect to friends and associates.

The tile will be installed next week, but the installer says I got a very good quality natural stone that is going to make the finishing touch on my remodel kitchen project. The service was very consumer friendly, the photos on the web page were very realistic. I was able to find everything out on the web page except where the delivery truck was being dispatched from. After I call and talked to a real person, who was very polite and explained everything about the delivery. Also, I received an email with instructions about my order and if I did not receive a phone call from the delivery driver by a certian date to check on my order by searching with my order number. I did go to two different stone show rooms in Memphis Tennessee the only reason I did not purchase from either of them was because they would not deliver directly to my home, Build Direct sent this huge crate directly to my home and the driver was so nice he placed the huge crate exactly where we wanted it. This was a very pleasant experience, the only thing that could have been a better -- if you were giving the tile away!!! The price was very competative. I will use your company again and I have already told several people at work about your company and the tile installer is also very impressed and says he will recommend your web site. Thanks.

What little help I needed was provided quickly and accurately. We received the free samples literaly the day after we ordered them. That alone spoke volumes to me about the company and made me confortable at placing my order. The quality was fantastic. This same quality tile at our local tile shops was almost twice as expensive per square foot. Shipping was Super fast, packaging was superb. Out of 720 sq.ft. we only had about five tiles that had a chip or break in it. Less than 2%. I look forward to doing business with BuildDirect in the future.

We had compared prices quite extensively prior to our purchase and were very pleased with the quality of the product. I was a little concerned ordering on line but product was delivered on time, well packed,we had very little broken tile. The price including tax and duty was still considerably less than local. You know tile stores here have showrooms, but when you purchase, you have to drive to their warehouse to pick up, that is so inconvenient and adds to the stress of the remodel. I have not yet installed it, but both the Oasis Walnut Travertine and the accompanying Bull-nose look excellent. The quality exceeds my expectations. It's even better than the samples led me to believe. The color variation was not as extreme as I had expected but I did get several unique tiles which will allow for a nice design.
