BuildDirect and the Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT)
An important message to our supply chain partners:
Security as it pertains to the exportation of goods into the United States of America has become very important with the threat of terrorism. As a result, U.S. Customs and Border Protection has introduced significant safeguards relating to the shipment of goods that pass over U.S. borders. Further to this higher standard of security, a voluntary program has been set up between U.S. Customs and individual companies exporting goods into the U.S. market. This program is called Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT).
BuildDirect is a C-TPAT member and strongly encourages its supply chain partners to make every effort to become compliant with C-TPAT policy. Unless compliance is realized on the part of those in the industry, the competitive edge gained in the past can be lost to delays and the costs associated with them. It is in your best interest to modify your operations in order to accommodate these important changes, and to take advantage of the benefits that compliance will bring. As we move forward in this regulatory environment, C-TPAT compliance will represent an enhanced relationship between BuildDirect and its partners.
