A home improvement disaster is solved with the help of Mike Holmes, Canadian general contractor and popular TV host of Holmes on Homes, and BuildDirect, the world’s most efficient building materials channel.

A young couple in Pasadena, CA had decided to remodel their bungalow to make room for their growing family. Four months into a home renovation project they had paid for 90% of their contract but only a fraction of the work was completed. Their 1700 sq foot home was left in shambles and the family was left with nowhere to turn.

Enter Mike Holmes, host of Holmes on Homes. Canadian home renovation expert Mike Holmes made an appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres Show. The homeowners saw a notice on the Ellen DeGeneres website that Mike Holmes was coming to America, and Ellen introduced Mike to them. The project marks the first time that Holmes on Homes has featured a renovation a project based in the US. Bamboo plants are not individually harmed by the harvesting process, which is strictly controlled. With strand-woven bamboo, there is an additional level of renewability – zero wastage. All of the parings of the stalk that are removed to make horizontal and vertical bamboo planks are then woven together to make this third option, strand-woven bamboo.
