BuildDirect’s high standards of customer service.
|
The product is transported by truck or rail from the
manufacturer’s factory to a Cargo Terminal at the Port of Discharge.
|
|
The product arrives at the Cargo Terminal and awaits customs clearance.
|
After arriving at the Cargo terminal, the product is cleared through export customs in the country of
origin and then is prepared for loading onto a ship.
|
|
The product is loaded onto a ship at the Port of Discharge. The Bill of Lading and the
container information is now available for tracking.
|
The product is transported by ship to the
destination country. BuildDirect can now receive an estimated time of arrival
(ETA) for the product. Factors that may affect the ETA include adverse weather
conditions, operational problems such as problems with the ship, or delays at
the Destination Port.
|
|
The product arrives at the Destination Port
and is unloaded and transported to the Cargo Terminal.
|
The product arrives at the Cargo Terminal and is
cleared through import customs where examinations may be performed. BuildDirect
covers examination costs which range in price from $100 to $1,000. Factors that
may delay shipment and processing by up to three weeks include the following
examinations:
a) Agriculture – USDA Hold
b) Manifest Hold
c) Drug Examination
d) Security Checks (X-ray Examinations)
Delays could also be caused by a backlog of pending
examinations awaiting inspection. Once the examinations (if required) are
completed, the product is then prepared for pick-up.
|
|
The product is transported by truck or rail from the
Cargo Terminal to the nearest reload center or directly to the final
destination. If a reload center is used, the product is transferred from one
mode of transportation to another and then delivered to the final destination.

the final destination. The customer must have a forklift or pallet jack
available for unloading the product.
