Should you stay or should you go?

The benefits of staying right where you are and making the best of it by doubling down on the investment in your current home are many, of course. You’ve grown attached to your home. It feels less like a collection of rooms, and more like a sure footing for your life. Staying in the home you’re in often means maintaining your connections with your daily routine, rather than having to craft a new one if you move across town, or to another city.

Staying in your current home means not having to rethink your commute, or your daycare arrangements, or the benefits of being within striking distance of that restaurant you love. This is not even to mention being close to friends and family who live nearby,  and who are your emotional support system in this crazy thing we call life.

Remodeling ideas that serve two purposes

Yet, maybe you have some very good reasons for wanting to move, and have decided to do it as soon as you can. But, maybe you aren’t quite ready to take the plunge for some equally good reasons. In this case, home remodeling is a good idea for at least two reasons.

The first reason is about your comfort and sense of well-being while you’re at home. A new bathroom, a new floor, new landscaping designs can all help you to achieve this, even if you are planning to move later on. The second reason is for the comfort and sense of well-being that a prospective buyer of your property will gain, which makes your home more sellable once you do decide to find the home of your dreams somewhere else.

Happiness now!

Either way, this is really what it’s all about, right? You want to feel at home no matter where you are. Creating that sense of home right now, whether with big home remodeling ideas or small ones, is a sure-fire way to do that.

In this, you’re investing in something other than a new surface, color scheme, or landscaping plan. You’re investing in your own contentment.
