5 Simple Trends for Spring Decor
Spring is a season of renewal. Here are 5 ways to demonstrate it in your space through color, texture, and simple design.
Is your home ready for a spring makeover? Here are some easy, inexpensive trends which are popular this season – all classic looks which will provide some freshness, comfort and style to your living areas.
Linen is a clean, cool, neutral texture you can sprinkle anywhere in your home. Re-cover some pillows for the couch in the living room, hang some breezy linen curtains in your kitchen or bathroom, and spruce up your bed with some linen sheets for a cozy, cool feel.
You can go as simple as draping a linen cover over a couch or chair for a casual look, or get in on one of the new designer inspired pieces such as linen dining room or club chairs, which provide a more luxurious, yet still somewhat casual, feel. Be brave and try some floral or colored linen, or stick with the traditional neutral colored linens for a more traditional, goes-with-everything look.
Wood provides a nice rustic charm to your home. Natural wood dining room tables, chairs, and floors give off the rustic vibe nicely, but you can simply add some pieces to your current décor as well – bookshelves, bed frames, benches or wooden artwork. Old wooden pallets make great, fairly inexpensive, DIY projects – make a headboard, table, or storage box.
Adding woven baskets, rugs, and wall hangings to your space will add a gentle earthy feel to any room. Woven baskets and trays are great for storage – use them for magazines, DVD’s, or to keep your gloves and scarves together near a door. Baskets are fun and easy to weave yourself using pages from old magazines, or pick some up cheap from craft stores or local markets.
Metallic décor has become incredibly popular over the last few years and this trend doesn’t look to be slowing down anytime soon. These fabrics provide a bit of shine and glamour to any room. Choose a sofa, ottoman, or curtains in metallic fabric for a bold touch, and pillow cases or even just a picture frame for a small pop of metallic. Jazz up your room with gold, silver or pewter. And never be afraid of mixing medals – these neutral pieces all work together!
5. Bold Colors
Even though soft, light neutrals are (still) in style this season, it’s always great to hit your room with a punch of color! Choose any color you love, cobalt blue is a popular bright color this season, and incorporate it into your decor. Even a simple bold colored pillow or blanket draped over a lighter, neutral colored chair creates a hip look.
I hope I have given you some inspiration to change up your home, a little or a lot, this season. Let us know what you plan to change up for spring!
