Istanbul not Constantinople
Istanbul was Constantinople
Now it’s Istanbul, not Constantinople
Been a long time gone, Constantinople
Now it’s Turkish delight on a moonlit night
Ok with that, if you haven’t yet figured out that I have arrived in Istanbul, well then you are a bit slow. And that is ok. After 6 days on the road, 15 hours on planes, 8 hours in airports, countless hours in cars, and about 8 km on foot, I am a bit slow too. But after all that, here I am in Istanbul. Traffic is pretty much insane. It took an hour to travel 2o km (13 mi) from the airport to my hotel, Taxim Hill Hotel.
After a while, you might just think you are being taken for a ride. Fortunately, my friend Fatih warned me about the traffic so i knew what to expect and he was correct on all account. The only real bonus is checking out the girls on the bus, or in this case, the girls on the bus checking you out. Stranger in a strange land I guess.
Tomorrow, my friend Murat has arranged for a day tour of the city. I am being picked up at my hotel and have the whole day, with a local, to explore Istanbul. Something tells me there might be a few pictures.
Also guys, I may end up putting together an online photo album somewhere so you can see all the pictures. Not just the few I single out to show on here. So far there are in excess of 150 pictures on my camera.
Time for dinner.
