When we say that we’re going to install a laminate floor on the outside patio of our offices, we’re being way goofy.

Under normal circumstances, it’s just not a smart thing to do.   But, in the case of the usual laminate flooring installation, here’s Marc with a few points about proper subfloor preparation:

The points that Marc hits are the basics to consider for your subfloors before you begin your laminate flooring installation. To review, these are:

  • a level surface
  • a clean surface
  • a dry surface

…And of course  INDOORS.

Laminate flooring like the Toklo 12mm, which we’re going to be destroying, is designed for the long term.  But, that long life depends upon a lot of prep work and clear thinking and planning on the part of the installer from the outset.  In short, you’ve got to do your research and be smart about how you approach the installation.

Don’t be like us.

When it comes to where we’ve decided to install our flooring, we’re going to ignore all of our own advice.  The flooring doesn’t stand a chance, folks.  We’re asking too much of it.  For us, this is kind of the fun part.

It should be interesting to see how long it will take before the floor really does give out.   I really don’t know.  But either way, I think  it will certainly show you how tough our stuff can be for you guys under normal conditions.
