Skylights: Shedding Some Natural Light

There are reasons why inviting natural light into a space is a good idea.

For one, it’s healthy. Natural light is good for the skin and bones (get that vitamin D in there!), and it has positive psychological benefits too. There’s a reason why we associate a sunny day with being “gorgeous”; because we need that natural light. But despite that, in Western culture, we spend a lot of time indoors. How do we then get more natural light into our lives?

One strategy is installing skylights, letting the daylight shine in with all of the health benefits it carries. But, there are other benefits to be had when it comes to skylights. What are they?

Well, take a look at this infographic to explore even more possibilities.

So; energy efficiency and aesthetic value can also be added to the list of natural light benefits. And I think too that the 21st century value of blurring the lines between outdoors and indoors play into the reasons why one would install a skylight. We’re reminded how much we value the sun, and the unique effects it can bring when we invite sunlight into our interiors.
