It’s no surprise that they would look to interior designers to create an equally welcoming environment at their homes and businesses.
Which interior designers are at the top of their game, and best able to help Orange County residents with their design considerations? From Laguna Beach to Irvine, we’ve scouted the most qualified and creative interior designers in Orange County. The San Diego native has over 16 years of industry experience, and keeps up with design trends through continuing education. Audra received her bachelor’s degree from the Design Institute of San Diego, where she concurrently worked as a designer and project manager for several prestigious model home firms. After relocating to Orange County, Audra opened her own interior design firm. Her ability to create an overall luxurious feel in each space through the selection of unique materials is what sets her apart from other designers.
Wendy is one half of the dynamic duo that owns Blackband Design, and the principle designer for the company. Along with her husband Greg and a team of professionals, Wendy delivers coastal interiors through a seamless design process. The University of Southern California graduate is a native of Balboa Island in Newport Beach, and the influences of seaside life are evident in her style. A frequent guest lecturer at UCLA Interior Design and Architecture program, she also mentors new designers.
Learning the art of sewing as a young girl inspired Vickie’s passion for design, and helped her gain an intimate understanding of fabrics and how things are built. It wasn’t long before she began to upholster furniture with fabric remnants and make her own window treatments. Vickie is the creative force behind Interior Affairs, where clients benefit from her 25 years of design success. She attended The Fashion Institute of Merchandising and Design.
The design principle of Grace Blu Designs practically grew up in her grandmother’s furniture showroom. Her first design project consisted of decorating her own tree house with carpet and fabric samples from her grandmother’s design library. Rona earned her masters of arts in teaching from the University of Pittsburgh, but realized her true calling and obtained a degree in interior design from the Interior Designers Institute. Grace Blu has been featured in Riviera Interiors and Travel & Leisure, and Rona has served on the boards of ASID Orange County and NKBA Southern California.

Chris’ love of interior design began at an early age, and he applies inspiration from fashion, automobile, and product design to his interiors. He studied at the acclaimed New York School of Interior Design, and founded his Orange County design firm in 1998. Influenced by Italian and Mediterranean architecture, Chris mixes modern with old world style and incorporates wall finishes such as Venetian Plaster. Giving top priority to his client’s needs and the function of their space, Chris conducts in-depth interviews and creates concept boards and floor plans.
Alicia’s talent lies in the median between the process and the art of interior design. Equally skilled in the the administrative and aesthetic sides of interior design, she is able to turn houses into homes. Her firm specializes in residential design, and observes the architectural details of a space as well as the needs and tastes of her client. Every client receives her complete care and attention, with the end result of an aesthetically-pleasing and functionally-useful design.
Darla’s personal and professional style is defined by the words “unique and chic,” which is why she chose them to be the name of her design firm. Using a kaleidoscope of styles, Darla creates environments that celebrate individuality and transforms rooms through the art of home staging. You might recognize Darla from episodes of design television shows on HGTV, Lifetime, and USA Network. Her work has been published in the international coffee table books “Ultimate Decorating” and “How to Design The Perfect Interior.”
Valerie is a romantic and a connoisseur of champagne who lives life to her fullest capacity. She designs with all of her heart because she loves her work, and believes everyone deserves to live gracefully and elegantly. Prior to founding Serendipite Designs, Valerie worked with Southern California’s top home builders and gained experience in new construction, project management, and procurement.
Nagwa is known for her clean color choices and stunning mixtures of pattern and texture. An Orange County native her whole life, she understands the therapeutic aspect of beautiful surroundings. Nagwa has also traveled globally, including Europe and the Middle East, which serves as inspiration to include detail and patina in her designs. Her design philosophy incorporates the saying “a place for everything and everything in its place,” and every project entails a sense of order and focus.
After 30 years in the industry, the emblematic designer has earned her impeccable reputation. She has designed numerous Southern California celebrity residences, and is featured in the book “Showcase of Interior Design.” Still an active member of ASID, BJ has served as national president and president of the Los Angeles chapter. As a community leader, she designed a major space at the Los Angeles Free Clinic, a local ASID community service project, and served as president of the Ronald McDonald House Board of Trustees.
David specializes in high end residential and lite corporate interior design, and has worked in Orange County for over 22 years. He studied architecture and fine art at Kent University, and furthered his education at the Interior Designers Institute. David holds a general contractor’s license, enabling him to undertake major remodels and provide guidance on construction design elements. He is a past president of the ASID Orange County chapter, and is currently the director of membership for the Interior Design Coalition of California.
Nadine’s childhood hobby of designing doll rooms with tiny furniture eventually became a fiery passion for interior design. A visionary artist, she can see and help realize the maximum potential in any space. Nadine shows her clients how a well-balanced and beautiful personal living space can bring about balance, organization, and beauty in their daily lives. Her work has been featured on HGTV and CBS Los Angeles, as well as in Newport Magazine.
Mary Etta McCurdy
Mary Etta specializes in custom window treatments, helping clients to reduce energy loss, protect furniture from damaging UV rays, and ensure privacy. She is a window fashion certified professional, and provides exquisite solutions to challenging window designs. Mary Etta creates luxurious and functional spaces that reflect the mood requested by her clients, resulting in timeless and livable environments. She received her BA in English and marketing from Findlay University, and studied at the Interior Designers Institute.
Growing up in the family furniture business, Tracey was involved in discussions on interior design trends at the dinner table and allowed to sit in on meetings with renowned designers and manufacturers. Through residential design, she hopes to make the biggest difference in clients’ lives. Tracey understands that a comforting and inspiring home rejuvenates people. Her style melds European and American designs with California casual, while remaining open to her clients’ interpretations of that combination.
Renee’s goal is to design interiors that capture the personality and style of her clients. An industry professional for 24 years, she has built a quality reputation as a great listener who is creative, practical and responsive. She partners with a broad network of tradespeople and product sources, enabling her to give each client the personalized and professional service they deserve. Renee studied at Loyola Marymount University.
