Soledad offer stunning views, but also stunning interiors.
It’s all about the modern way here, and designers in the area have a keen eye for the most sleek and affluent of schemes. And we wanted to find out which of San Diego’s interior designers were the best at accomplishing these things. Listed below, in no particular order, are 15 of them.

As the lead designer of Payte Miller Interiors, Shannon wants to combine functionality with luxury. She prides herself on being with her customers through every step of the process, and is never finished until the work is done. She is a winner of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) Design Excellence Award, and that 1st place honor is a testament to her abilities.
When it comes to ideas rich in a diversity of style, Michael has been there and done that. Living in every corner of the globe can certainly broaden one’s horizons, especially those in the design and architecture industry. He executes his experience with precision, catering every aspect of his design to his clients’ needs. He is a California local with a vast understanding of West Coast design styles.
If you want premier designs from one of the most experienced people in the industry, one need look no further than Wallace Cunningham. He has been the leader of his own firm for 35 years, making him a guru of interior design. He has been featured in just about every major publication across the country, including Architectural Digest. He believes that combining a room with the nature that surrounds it is what really brings a design to life.
Nina has come from humble beginnings, and worked her way up to being one of the most respected names in the design industry. After getting her Bachelor’s degree at the Design Institute of San Diego, she started out as a protege under Steve Chase. Now she has her own firm, and uses the influence of Spanish architecture in the area as a springboard for her designs. She has worked in just about every city in Southern California, but her firm’s home base is in Solana Beach.
Susan believes a good design is never accomplished alone. Her team at Savvy Interiors puts forth maximum effort to decorate in a beautiful, convenient and cost-conscious way. Since starting the company, she has become one of the most trusted names in the industry, and her attention to detail in residential and industrial design has earned her the best of Houzz award in two out of the previous three years.
While interior design is her forte, she believes that the whole house, inside and out, deserves attention. Leanne encourages creativity at her firm, but first and foremost seeks to satisfy the clients’ needs no matter what. She likes to have fun with her designs, and seeks to make projects stress free. She is a correspondent for HGTV and was recently awarded best showcase house in San Diego.
Word of mouth was a key factor in spreading Tracy’s talents in interior design. And it didn’t take long for that word to spread after starting her own agency, Style on a Shoestring. She is able to take her clients’ vision, and expand upon it for the absolute best results possible. Even though she has a team of designers, she is never far from the end product, signing off on all ideas and concepts.
Kristin understands that life can be hectic, so she sets out to create a space that offers solace and peace from the world outside. She also seeks to create sophisticated interiors that reflect her clients’ personality, rather than being an extension of her own ideas. She has been featured many times in San Diego Home & Garden, and is one of the most prominent faces in the area’s design industry.
It’s Andrea’s ability to mix and match that has set her apart; she strives for the perfect combination of vintage and modern in her award-winning designs. She started her own firm in La Jolla 10 years ago, and since then has made a name for herself by designing sleek and colorful rooms and houses. She has been featured in McGuire Furniture Company’s catalogue, and was given Room Reveal’s Best in Design award last year.
Corine strives to employ her life’s philosophy within her designs; be adventurous. Also a graduate of the Design Institute of San Diego, she uses her education and experience to start her own firm just three short years ago. Despite such a short time in the industry, she has already made her mark, having been featured in numerous productions and publications, including HGTV’s The White Room Challenge.
Attention to detail is Anita’s strongest suit. She, and everyone in her company, Dawson Design Group, understands that design and renovation is a process with many steps. And she strives to ensure that every one of those steps is done right. Her commitment to the project makes the end result very rewarding for her clients. She has been featured many times over in San Diego Home & Garden throughout the years.

Because if it’s your favorite room in the house it needs to look that way. With decades of experience under her belt, Cheryl employs creativity and practicality in her modern designs. She has won numerous awards from the National Kitchen & Bath Association.
Rebecca has had her own firm for 20 years now, and she prides herself on a founding principle of the company: listening. For her, nothing is more important than paying close attention to what a client wants in the effort to achieve a perfect design for them. From office, to kitchen, to living room design, whatever your want, Rebecca and her team have a need to satisfy your vision in their designs.
