Wide planks change the room. They change the install, too.
A 9.5-inch board needs a flatter subfloor, more acclimation time and a different overage number than a 5-inch strip. Colour is the easy part. Every sample order is assigned a flooring expert who knows these oak lines and will work through the rest with you.

Questions before you order
How wide is a wide plank?
Anything from about 7 inches up. Every line on this page is 7.5 inches or wider, and two of them run 9.5 inches. The exact width of each is printed on its card above, read from the live catalogue.
Do wide planks cup or gap?
Solid wide planks can. These are engineered — a real oak surface over a cross-ply core — which is what holds a 9.5-inch board flat across seasons. The installation guide for each floor sets out the humidity range and acclimation time.
Do I need a special subfloor?
A flatter one. Wide planks bridge less and show more, so subfloor flatness matters more than with a narrow board. Your expert will tell you what to check before you order.
Is this actually real wood?
Yes. Every floor on this page has a genuine oak surface bonded to an engineered core. None of them is a printed wood-look.
What is a wear layer, and how much do I need?
It's the thickness of real oak above the core. More wear layer means more life in the floor. Your flooring expert will tell you what your rooms actually call for — thicker is not automatically the right buy.
Are the samples really free?
Yes. You can choose five samples at no cost, and they ship 2nd day air.
What happens after I order samples?
We assign you a flooring expert. They'll get in touch to help you compare what you received, work out quantities, and put together a complete quote covering the floor, the trims and delivery. There's no obligation to order.
Can I get more than five samples?
Five is the free allowance. Your expert can arrange more, and larger XL samples are available to buy on several of these lines if you want to see a bigger piece before you commit.
