Questions before you order
What is the best flooring for a kitchen?
For most kitchens, a waterproof rigid-core vinyl plank: it shrugs off spills, goes over almost any subfloor and is the easiest to live with. Waterproof AC5 laminate wins where scratch resistance and a harder surface matter. If you want real wood, Celestial is waterproof engineered hardwood built for exactly this room.
Can I put real hardwood in a kitchen?
Yes. Celestial is genuine oak and hickory over a waterproof rigid core, and it's on this page for that reason. Traditional tongue-and-groove hardwood is also used in kitchens every day, with the usual care around standing water — ask your expert which suits you.
Will these floors stand up to dropped pans and dragged chairs?
The wear layer number on each card is the measure. A 20 mil wear layer is the usual benchmark for a busy family kitchen; 30 and 40 mil are built for heavier use, and AC5 laminate is rated for general commercial traffic.
How do I match a floor to my cabinets?
Order the samples and stand them against the cabinet doors and the counter edge in daylight and again under the kitchen lights. Undertone — warm, cool or grey — matters more than the colour name. Your expert will help you read what you see.
Do I need to remove the old floor first?
Often not. Many of these planks float over an existing hard floor if it's flat and dry. The installation guide for each line sets out what's allowed, and your expert will confirm it for your kitchen.
