Business Systems Support Specialist APPLY NOW
Reports to: Director of Technology
Location: Vancouver, BC
Type: Full-time
Role overview
BuildDirect is hiring a Business Systems Support Specialist to support the day-to-day stability, accuracy, and continuous improvement of our core business systems. This is a hands-on role for someone who can take ownership, work independently, and execute tasks with minimal hand-holding.
You will be trusted with meaningful work across ERP, integrations, ecommerce, CRM, and Microsoft 365. During acquisitions, you will assist with system discovery and transition tasks, but the primary focus is keeping our current platform running smoothly and improving it over time.
This is not an IT helpdesk role. Technical Support (hardware, network, devices) is a separate function.
Core systems you will support
· NetSuite (ERP)
· Celigo (integrations and automation)
· Shopify (ecommerce)
· HubSpot (CRM)
· Microsoft 365 / Entra ID (identity and collaboration)
· Supporting tools as needed (shipping/logistics tools, EDI partners, reporting tools)
Responsibilities
Day-to-day business systems support (primary)
· Own the daily health of workflows across NetSuite, Shopify, HubSpot, and connected systems.
· Troubleshoot and resolve issues impacting orders, inventory, purchasing, fulfillment, invoicing, and reporting.
· Handle system configuration tasks: roles/permissions, saved searches, custom fields, workflows, dashboards, and data cleanup.
· Execute assigned tasks independently and provide clear status updates (what you did, what changed, what’s next).
Integrations and automation (primary)
· Monitor Celigo flows, investigate failures, and resolve errors quickly.
· Fix mapping issues, duplicates, missing records, and data mismatches between systems.
· Improve integration reliability through practical enhancements (monitoring, source-of-truth rules, and process improvements).
· Identify and implement small automations that reduce manual operational work.
Microsoft 365 and tenant support (secondary)
· Support day-to-day M365/Entra ID admin needs: access, groups, licensing coordination, Teams/SharePoint basics.
· Assist with tenant migration tasks during acquisitions (email/files/collaboration transitions) under IT leadership direction.
Acquisition support (as needed)
· Quickly learn unfamiliar systems and document how key processes work.
· Support data exports/imports, validation, cleanup, and transition tasks.
· Help execute migration work toward BuildDirect’s core stack over time.
Documentation and continuous improvement
· Build and maintain runbooks/SOPs so fixes are repeatable and knowledge is shared.
· Document system changes and integration logic clearly.
· Recommend improvements that increase reliability, speed, and operational visibility.
What we’re looking for
This role is for someone who is:
· Highly self-sufficient: you can take a task, run with it, and deliver without constant questions.
· A super fast learner who can pick up new systems quickly and confidently.
· Strong at troubleshooting “in-between systems” problems where the root cause isn’t obvious.
· Calm, organized, and consistent with follow-through.
Qualifications
Required
· 3+ years in business systems, ERP support/admin, systems operations, or integration support.
· Experience supporting NetSuite (admin or strong power-user level).
· Experience troubleshooting integrations (Celigo preferred; other iPaaS acceptable).
· Strong data skills (Excel, CSV imports/exports, reconciliation mindset).
· Experience supporting ecommerce operations (Shopify or similar).
· Experience supporting Microsoft 365 in a business environment.
· Proven ability to learn quickly and operate independently.
Pluses (nice to have)
· Web development fundamentals (HTML/CSS/JavaScript) and strong debugging instincts.
· WordPress experience (admin, troubleshooting themes/plugins, basic performance or security awareness).
· Shopify development experience (Liquid, metafields, templates, theme troubleshooting).
· App development exposure (APIs, light scripting, basic SQL, automation tooling).
· EDI exposure or marketplace middleware experience (Rithum).
· Inventory-heavy, multi-warehouse, or multi-entity environments.
BuildDirect core values
We hire and evaluate performance through our core values:
· Entrepreneurial
· Strong Work Ethic
· Driven to Win
· Team Player
· Straightforward
What success looks like in the first 90 days
· You can independently handle a steady stream of NetSuite, Celigo, Shopify, and HubSpot support tasks.
· Integration errors are triaged quickly with clear root-cause notes and next steps.
· You produce simple runbooks so fixes don’t rely on tribal knowledge.
· You reduce the number of daily fires that require the Senior Director to jump in.
