FloorMuffler 3030 is an engineered kraft paper underlayment that protects wood flooring from subfloor moisture the smart way — by slowing vapor without trapping it. As a breathable Class II vapor retarder, it shields your floor from moisture migrating up through the subfloor while still letting the assembly dry. It's the modern upgrade to asphalt felt and rosin paper, without the mess or the odor.
Built for Nail-Down Hardwood
This is the underlayment pros reach for under nail-down solid hardwood. Roll it out over the plywood or OSB subfloor, overlap the seams, and nail your floor right through it. The slip sheet reduces squeaks from board-on-subfloor friction and keeps dust and debris out of the assembly — clean, fast, and code-friendly.
One Roll, Most Installs
3030 isn't limited to nail-down. Use it under floating engineered hardwood and laminate as a vapor retarder, and — unlike foam underlayments — it's fully compatible with flooring that has a pre-attached pad. When your plank already has cushion built in, 3030 adds the moisture protection layer without doubling up on foam (which can void flooring warranties).
Pro-Grade Coverage
Each roll covers 500 square feet — enough to knock out most whole-floor jobs with one SKU. At 36 inches wide, it lays out fast with fewer seams than narrow felt rolls, cuts cleanly with a utility knife, and weighs a fraction of asphalt paper.

- Nail-down solid hardwood over plywood or OSB
- Floating engineered hardwood and laminate floors
- Flooring with pre-attached underlayment pad (moisture layer only)
- Whole-home and multi-room residential or commercial projects
Good to know: Not for use with radiant heat systems. Over concrete slabs or in basements, use an underlayment with a full moisture barrier such as our FanFold XPS Flooring Underlayment.
